Dog Doo Wop Wop Dancin'

Walkin' with my Sweet Friend, side by side, double female energy
bundled up from the cold, hats on, poofy jackets tight.
Up ahead comes Grinnin' Indian in thin fabric'd elegance,
reachin' out, shakin' our hands, pullin' us together, group hug,
us pulling back, him pulling forward, kiss-kiss.

Walkin' on. Oh, you there, behind us, Big Man walkin' two dogs...
"Want to hug us too? Like that? Ha ha!"
He grinnin'. He passin' us by, long legged.
I hear low, deep down, "It'd make my day."

More steppin' forward, followin' dogs, followin' Big Man.
Big Man's far ahead now, stopp'd short, lookin' back.
Squattin' dog doin' her thing;
Standin' dog grinnin' our way, just waitin'.
Big man lookin' down, lookin' back. Lookin' down.
Dog finishin', Big Man with bag ready, pauses... pauses,
lookin' at us, us walkin' up, us walkin' right up to him.

"Ooh, sweet doggies, sweeet doggies," Sweet Friend cooin' and cooin',
pettin' those hard heads, still more cooin'.
Aii, the fumes. Me walkin' forward, wantin' to whisper,
"Not now, Not now, Not now!"
Big Man grinin' politely, eyein' Sweet Friend, not breathin'.
Naw, not his day.
